Data sources
MetalRates24 uses Metals.dev as its primary source for gold, silver, platinum and palladium spot quotes, together with the foreign-exchange rates used for international conversions.
Provider data is stored in our own database before publication. Public pages read that local copy and do not make a new API request for every visit.
How prices are calculated
The international reference is received in US dollars per troy ounce. To obtain a local price, it is combined with the exchange rate for the same date and then converted to the selected unit.
- Price per gram: troy-ounce price divided by 31.1034768.
- Price per kilogram: gram price multiplied by 1,000.
- Local-currency price: USD reference multiplied by the USD/local-currency rate.
- Purity-adjusted value: unit result multiplied by the selected purity factor.
Updates, dates and history
The system schedules one daily synchronization through a single request that supplies the complete catalog. Each observation retains its market date and retrieval date for traceability.
If the source does not provide a new observation, the site keeps the latest available record and displays its corresponding date. Charts use stored observations only; missing days are not fabricated and estimates are not presented as observed data.
Units, purity and rounding
The ounce used is the troy ounce, the precious-metals market standard, equal to 31.1034768 grams. One kilogram equals 1,000 grams.
Calculations retain internal precision and round the displayed result to two decimal places. Purity represents the share of fine metal: for example, 99.9% corresponds to a factor of 0.999.
Scope and limitations
Published values are informational references, not executable quotes. A dealer may add premiums, bid–ask spreads, taxes, fabrication, transport and commissions.
Time zones, holidays, market closures and provider availability can create a difference between the calendar date and the latest date carrying market data.
